Chrono Trigger (DS) Review

Chrono Trigger is a popular JRPG from Square Enix. Often regarded as one of the quintessential JRPGs, Chrono Trigger has received much critical acclaim over the years. I played the DS port of the game. I can’t say if this a faithful adaption of the original, as I haven’t played the original SNES game, but from looking at footage online it seems pretty similar with the only difference being a second screen. Chrono Trigger deserves all the praise it gets. It’s a fun and moderately challenging JRPG with lots of personality with a clever plot and lovable characters. Battles aren’t really turned base, with a meter filling up at a certain pace, depending on your speed stat. Upon it fully charging up, you can attack. Battles rely more on reaction times and quick thinking rather than thoughtful planning. This is a unique aspect that keeps even the easiest or basic of battles engaging and fun. Overall, Chrono Trigger is not only one of the best RPGs on the DS, but possibly of all time. I highly suggest you check this game out if you love RPGs. Whether your a seaoned veteran of the genre or a newcomer, Chrono Trigger will keep you hooked to the very end!

I give Chrono Trigger a perfect: 10 out of 10

I know Chrono Trigger has “New Game +” and multiple endings, but I think I’ll save that for another day. I’ve been playing this game off and on for the past few months, and I think I need to take a break for a bit. Expect some Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon related content to be coming soon! Until then, happy gaming everyone!
